After obtaining a degree in chemical engineering from Técnico in Portugal, Pedro pursued a PhD thesis on catalysis at the Institut français du pétrole in France. This academic foundation paved the way for a career in the industry, starting as a research engineer from 1997 to 2000 and a role in technical assistance to industrial sites at TotalEnergies until 2005. Pedro then moved to the position of process engineering superintendent at the TotalEnergies Feyzin refinery near Lyon, France, between 2005 and 2008 and continued with the role of Technical Manager at the TotalEnergies GRANDPUITS refinery near Paris, serving from 2008 to 2014.

 Pedro's international experience expanded with the role of Technical Manager of the SATORP petrochemical plant in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, from 2014 to 2018 and as Technical Director of the Petrochemical Platform in Antwerpen, Belgium, holding the position until 2024.

  recently, in July 2024, Pedro has moved back to France and has taken over the position of Deputy General Plant Manager of the now no oil Grandpuits-Gargeville Platform.
