Yves Houilliez holds a master’s degree in engineering from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Industrielles of Lille and a master’s degree in chemicals Engineering from the Ecole de Génie Chimique of Toulouse. He began his career in 1988 in Petrochemicals at ENI. After several positions in process and then in Operation, he took responsibility for the Olefins Department of the Dunkerque Petrochemical Site. He joined the TotalEnergies Company in 2001, first in Normandy as Director of Basic Chemicals activities, then in Brussels as Director of Research and Technology. In 2007, he took over the responsibility of a petrochemical complex development project in Arzew, Algeria before taking up the position of Site Manager on the Carling platform. He continued his career in Houston where he oversaw the Strategy and Development of Refining Chemicals for the US. Its main activities were to optimize the Supply of Refining but also to develop a new steam cracker project in Port Arthur (Texas).
Back in Europe since 2017, he has overseen Manufacturing, Business Development and Joint Venture management for TotalEnergies' Refining/Chemicals. Beyond the operational aspects, he has been involved in recent years in the challenges of the energy transition with the transformation of the La Mède Refinery into a Biorefinery and other projects aiming to reduce CO2 emissions.
He has been appointed as VP Manufacturing Africa, Middle East and Asia the 1st of February.
