Dr. Haizmann fully qualified as lawyer graduating in Germany, UK and Belgium.
Following his studies, Dr. Haizmann started his career at a German law firm, specializing on European competition law and industry regulation. In 1999, Dr. Haizmann moved to London working as regulatory and legal affairs manager for various large wholesale commodities firms, focusing on industry regulation applicable to the power, gas and renewable sector. Mr. Haizmann gained commercial experience as gas origination manager at the front desk of Glencore Energy in London. Since 2005, Dr. Haizmann has been an independent consultant to the energy trading industry, advising clients on legal and regulatory aspects of energy trading. Dr. Haizmann was appointed expert in several arbitration proceedings helping dispute resolution in gas and power transactions. Dr. Haizmann has been managing Correggio Consulting (www.correggio-consulting.eu )which he founded since 2005. The company has 14 staff in 2023.
In 2024, Jan Haizmann assumed the role as Secretary General (CEO) of Zero Emissions Traders Alliance (ZETA) , based in the UAE. ZETA is aiming at creation of zero emissions markets in the GCC-region and beyond.
Between 2005 and 2023, Mr. Haizmann was holding different executive functions within the Traders for Europe (“EFET”). He was member of its Board of Directors between 2009 to 2023. For many years, Mr. Haizmann was member of the exchange council of the European Energy (EEX). The European Commission engaged Dr Haizmann to lead various technical assistance projects related to building of transparent energy markets. Dr Haizmann was acting Project-Lead for EU sponsored projects aiming at a Gas Trading Hub in Turkey (2015-2017), and a modern commodity market in Ukraine (2020-2024), and currently works for the Ministry of Azerbaijan as Team-Lead advising the Government about unbundling of the electricity grid and market rules. Dr Haizmann attended universities and graduated in Law in Freiburg (Ass Iur.), London (LL.M) and Brussels (PhD). Dr. Haizmann has 2 grown up children and lives with his wife in Dubai.
The absence of clear international standards and certifications, defining what constitutes clean hydrogen, is causing market confusion and uncertainty. Variations in production methods and feedstocks results in significant differences in validating the carbon footprint of hydrogen. Robust international certification is required to ensure global industry standards and a common baseline for clean and low emission product qualifications.
