Head, Energy Studies Department
OPEC
Dr. Benyoucef is the Head of the Energy Studies Department at the OPEC Secretari¬at. The Department is responsible for monitoring, analyzing and forecasting world energy developments in the medium- and long-term and reporting thereon. It also monitors developments and undertakes specific studies on energy demand and pro-duction-related technology. Prior to joining OPEC in September 2017, he was the acting Director of Studies and Knowledge Management at the Algerian Petroleum Institute (IAP) of Algerian National Oil Company, SONATRACH, where he was responsible for mid- and long-term planning, in particular coordinating training activities and setting up a knowledge management and technological mastery system. Dr Benyoucef was engaged for many years as a lecturer and researcher at IAP. Dr Benyoucef has a PhD in Energy Economics from Bourgogne University (France) and the French Petroleum Institute, IFP, (France) and holds a Magister degree in Petroleum Economics and Strategic Management from IAP and Engineer degree in Petroleum Economics from the Algerian Institute of Hydrocarbons and Chemistry, Boumerdes University (Algeria).
